Snow!!!!

I can't believe that I live in an area that gets snow. Usually I am updating everyone about Makenna's firsts but I am happy to say that this is a first for Toby and I also. This is the first time that all three of us live in a house that gets snow. It was the perfect amount because it is just enough to go outside and feel like we are in a winter wonderland without all the nuisance of having to use chains or shovel snow. It only lasted for a few hours before the rain washed it away but, it was so much fun to see while it lasted. Here are some pictures and a video.

Makenna's Bedroom

Finally Makenna's room is finished! Toby had already gotten all of the walls painted with the yellow background color while I was still pregnant. Unfortunately, I couldn't finish the rest of the painting and decorating until now. It is a non-traditional babies room but I love it. It is inspired by the artwork of Mary Engelbreit. I have always loved her work and am so pleased that I had a little girl so I could decorate her room in this way. Who knows when she will actually sleep in there by herself, but it is ready when we are ready to let her sleep there. Here is a photo of the bedroom:

New Years

So, New Years is much different with a newborn. Let's just say that we were watching the inside of our eyelids instead of watching the ball drop. We did get a good night sleep though:-) It is the first time since I can remember that I haven't stayed up for the year change. Priorities are different now.

Christmas Day

On Christmas Day we went all over the place. We started by going to my mom and Jim's house for our traditional breakfast casserole and coffee cake. The food is soooo good but so bad for you. It is a good thing that it only comes once a year. We did stockings and gifts there and we headed out to Toby's parent's house. We hung out with the family, ate more wonderful food, opened more gifts, and then headed to my grandma and grandpa's house. Makenna was passed from one person to another and she slept the entire time. It was great! It was fun to have Makenna with us this Christmas and I can't wait until next Christmas when she can actually open gifts and enjoy the holiday.

Christmas Eve

We had Toby's family over to our house for Christmas Eve. It was the first time that we had young kids over our house. We now know how much our house is not baby proofed. I guess we will have to be doing that in the next few months before Makenna starts moving around the house on her own. We played Wii, ate food, and talked. Makenna had never been around other kids before and she found them fascinating. She met four of her cousins for the first time (Zachary, Shayne, Jessica, and Alyssa). Shayne was especially cute with Makenna. He was so excited to see her and kept coming over to look at her and touch her head. She also met for the first time her Aunt Renee, Uncle Micah, Aunt Sherri, and Uncle Ian. Her Grandma and Grandpa Venable were also there.

Palm Springs

On December 19th we headed out to Palm Springs to see Shanelle's Dad's side of the family. We had a lot of fun. They had such wonderful food! It was the first time that Makenna got to meet her Great Grandpa Etzen, Shanelle's Uncle David, and Bruce. Here are a few pictures.
